Taxi company marketing: how to recruit drivers and win riders
A taxi company depends on two things: enough drivers on the road and riders who choose it over an app. Marketing has to work for both audiences at the same time.
Two audiences, two messages
The most common mistake is posting the same content for drivers and riders. Drivers want to know how much they can earn, what their schedule looks like, what the requirements are and whether the company pays on time. Riders want safety, punctuality and a clear price. That is why we split the campaigns: one for recruitment and one for brand and riders, each with its own ads, copy and forms.
Driver recruitment with targeted ads
Recruitment ads work best when they answer questions before the driver asks them:
- Specific requirements: license, vehicle type, documents and experience.
- Real benefits of your company: company fleet or own vehicle, service areas, how and how often drivers get paid.
- A short lead form inside Meta or a direct WhatsApp conversation so interested drivers are not lost.
- Short videos with real drivers from the company describing their day, always with their permission.
Important if you operate in the United States: Meta and Google treat job ads as a special category. You cannot target by age, gender or ZIP code, and location targeting requires a wide radius around the city. The campaign must be declared correctly from the start so it is not rejected, and the message has to do the filtering that targeting no longer can.
Content that builds rider trust
Against ride-hailing apps, a local company competes on closeness and trust. The content that works best shows people and processes:
- Introductions of drivers and the fleet, with clean, clearly identified vehicles.
- How to book in a few steps: phone, WhatsApp or your own app.
- Clear fares or price ranges for the most requested trips, such as the airport or bus terminal.
- Safety protocols: driver ID, trip tracking and support when something goes wrong.
City-level paid media on Meta Ads and Google Ads
With Google Ads you capture people already looking for a taxi: searches like "airport taxi" or "taxi near me" and your Google Maps listing. With Meta Ads you build awareness and recruit drivers with video. The best approach is to split the budget by city or area, measure how many calls, messages and forms each one brings, and move spend to where it performs best.
What to measure every month
- Driver applications received and how many end in a hire.
- Cost per application and cost per hired driver.
- Rider calls and messages by area.
- New Google reviews and their average rating.
With those numbers you decide every month, based on data, whether you need more drivers, more riders or a stronger brand. That is how we work with the taxi companies that trust us with their growth in the United States and Latin America.
